Van insurance needed for snazzy new ford model

Ford is set to unveil a van with sports stripes and a luxurious interior in an effort to attract drivers looking for an eye-catching light commercial vehicle.

The Ford Transit Connect SportVan will go on sale in September with an asking price of £15,325 and a meaty 1.8-litre Duratorq TDCi engine.

Ford said it will feature "Le Mans-style" stripes plus leather seats, body coloured bumpers and a bright chrome grille and side skirts.

Ford Britain commercial vehicles director Steve Kimber said: "It looks great and we anticipate it will be just as popular as its big brother, the Transit SportVan, which has been a fast seller."

Commercial drivers who pick up one of the new models in September could then go online to get a van insurance policy to cover the luxurious vehicle.

Ford's range also includes the Ranger pickup truck available in three body styles and boasting off-road capability.
